- To see Photo Gallery of this race CLICK HERE. It was the October 29, 1967 LA Times Grand Prix. Shots were found in my old slide collection. Although I took over 50 slides, only about a dozen came out or show the action. Shot below shows start with Dan Gurney leading from pole position in his Lola T70 Mk 3B Ford (DNF), followed by ultimate winner Bruce McLaren in his McLaren M6A Chevrolet. Jim Hall follows in the winged Chaparral 2G - he finishes 2nd. 36 cars started, 16 finished.

- This was held October 11-13, 200 mile, 77 laps, sanctioned by USAC/CSCC.

- Pictured: Bob Holbert and Dave MacDonald's King Cobras with Jim Hall’s Chaparral next to them. The Chaparral had a mishap right in front of me on this day.
- These are rather poor quality photos and scans, but hope you enjoy them. Chuck Brandt is writing a book on King Cobras and is re-scanning some for his book. When they are available we will post them. He was first to contact me before the slide show was up and running and identified the shot below as well as other information. I am giving credit to contributors on each slide and other comments are just by me.

- 1969 Targa Florio - 53rd running 10 laps Piccolo Circuito 720 km
- In getting some slides scanned, local photographer Ragnar Hartman asked if I would be interested in some pictures of the 1969 Targa Florio. He had been stationed in Naples and loved cars and photography so the Targa Florio was a logical way to get both.
- As background, this was Round 5 of the 1969 World Championship that started at Daytona and ended in Round 10 at the Austrian Grand Prix at Zeltweg. Porsche Racing (Porsche System Engineering) started the season with the new 908 in several configurations, the Spyder 2 most often used. They finished 1, 2, 3, 4 here. - The picture on Tam's site is from 1964 not 1965. In 1965 I raced a Cheetah. After the Riverside Race in 1965 I raced the McLaren Mk 1 that Graham Hill was driving in that race. In 1967 I got a McLaren Mk 2 and in 1968 I got a Lola T-70. This is my McLaren at Riverside in 1967. Photo by Gary Wheeler.
- The above car is the Mk2 McLaren that was raced by Peter Revson in 1966. I ran that car in 1967. It was silver I painted it Nassau Blue. A stock 67 Corvette color. I started with a Traco 333 cu. in. engine about 420 hp. I then switched to a Al Bartz 365 cu. in. engine about 500 hp. I finished 11th at Elkhart in the 1967 CanAm and 7th at the last race Stardust or Las Vegas.
